House, formerly farmhouse. Early-mid C17 with older elements. Plastered cob on
rubble footings; cob stacks with C19 brick tops; thatched roof. Long building of
2-storeys; 3 rooms to ground floor, 4 to first. Gable stack to right (east) and
axial stack left of centre heating the rooms between. 2 front doors; right door to
through passage between 2 heated rooms; left door to large western room, an
agricultural store isolated from main house. Roof is hipped to left. Irregular
fenestration being one C19 or C20 casement to each domestic room. Main door has
C20 porch with thatched, hipped roof. House of two builds. Earlier part to left
(west) end is divided from early-mid C17 main build by solid cob wall pierced only
at first floor level. The main house has 2-room plan with through passage between.
The larger room, the 'hall', is west of passage. Its western cross wall is taken
up by a blocked cob fireplace and newel stair. Ceiling beams in both rooms
chamfered with scroll stops; beam in older store-room has step stops. Oak-
mullioned windows and a cob wall from an early outshut survive to rear. Most of
early structure is hidden.
