- II
Substantial detached house. C17 and early C19. Plastered cob with stone footings
under slate and synthetic slate roofs, hipped to main range, gabled end to rear wing.
An early C19 single-depth central staircase house with C20 rear 2-storey outshut
under catlslide roof, with the earlier late C17 house attached and now forming a rear
storage wing. 3 storeys, the older house of 2 storeys.
Front: symmetrical 3-window range with modillion cornice carried round to both ends;
12-pane hornless sash windows to all floors; late C19 central porch of yellow brick
with much moulding, round headed arched entrance, and round headed window to either
side; the original doorway, with modillions and architrave, originally had a canopy
for which the shaped brackets still survive. Side windows are late C20. Brick
shafts to internal stacks at former rear corners. The rear wing with large axial
stack with off-sets, and an end stack; both with brick shafts 1, 2 and 3-light mostly
C19 casement windows.
Interior of wing: 2 deeply chamfered beams survive; 1 truss could be C17, but the
whole much remodelled in C19.
