footings; stone rubble stacks topped with C19 brick; thatch roof.
Originally a 3-room-and-through-passage plan house facing south-east with former
inner room at left (south-west) end. End stacks to former inner and service rooms
and axial stack to hall backing onto former passage. Rear of passage blocked by
1975 staircase. Service/dairy rear block at right angles behind inner room. Late
C19-early C20 outshot on right end. 2 storeys.
Irregular 4-window front of 1975 replacement casements with glazing bars tending
towards a vague symmetry around front passage door. First floor right end window
has thatch gable over and adjoining window right of centre has low thatch eyebrow
over. French windows at left end. Passage has 1975 plank door and contemporary
monopitch and slate-roofed hood. Roof is gable-ended. Rear block also has 1975
casements including gabled half dormer on outer side and roof has hipped end.
Outshot with slate roof.
Interior: has been thoroughly modernised but basic structure remains. Service end
room has soffit-chamfered crossbeam with runout stops and rubble fireplace has
ovolo soffit moulding with runout stops. Hall has large stone fireplace in which
front blocks are neatly cut with panels of rustication and oak lintel is plainly-
finished. First floor beams and joists replaced 1975. Hall-inner room partition
removed at same time. Roof of probably C17 A-frame trusses with pegged lap-jointed
