Church. Late C16, largely enclosed in brick shell of c1815. Timber
frame with rendered infill and red Flemish bond brick. Slate roof.
South front: Nave of 4 bays. Timber framed gabled porch to second
bay from left with stone base small framed walls and pointed arch. To
either side are early C19 2-light pointed tracery windows having
hood-moulds with floral end-stops. The two to the right are each set
in slightly recessed arched panels. Chancel of two bays with close
studding below and chevron framing between timber mullioned windows.
North wall: similar to south wall save for timber-framed vestry to
right with stone plinth and close studding. East wall: close
studding below with chevron-framing above. Central pointed window of
c1815 with three semi-circular headed lights. Coving to underside of
projecting gable which has V-strutting. West wall: early C19 painted
to simulate timber framing with double doors and three-light window to
gallery with 2-light windows to either side. Gabled bell-cote to
gable.
Interior: Nave of three bays with trusses of arched principals two
purlins and a ridge beam with wind braces to both sides of purlins.
Lower panelled ceiling to chancel supported on Tudor-arched brace
supported on semi-octagonal wall posts. Chancel screen with 4
traceried lights to either side of central aisle opening with
traceried lower panels and arched tops. Brattished cresting. Chancel
walls show framing, nave walls of plaster painted to simulate framing.
