Poultry house. Probably late C18 - early C19. Granite stone rubble with massive
dressed quoins; corrugated iron roof (formerly thatch).
Plan and description: poultry house built across the slope and facing south. It
originally comprised a row of 4 pigsties each with a low front door with a feeding
hatch alongside to right. Some of the openings have since been blocked. The outer
2 are divided off by stone crosswalls but the middle two are undivided. Continuous
hayloft above with central loading hatch. Roof is gable-ended.
Interior has plain carpentry detail including a replacement C20 roof.
The poultry house is one of a group of attractive listed buildings including Chapple
Farmhouse (q.v) and West Chapple (q.v) which make up the hamlet of Chapple.
