Beacon Hill Arch

II

Gateway arch to park drive. Circa early C19. yellow brick, probably originally rendered with
Coade stone dressings. Combination of Gothic and Classical styles, built in the form of a
triumphal arch with large 2-centred carriage arch over drive flanked by pairs of large piers
and small pointed-arch foot arches. The arches have brick hoodmoulds and moulded Coade
stone imposts. Moulded Coade stone entablature and cornices to the piers. Over the central
carriageway arch on top of the parapet a Coade stone unfit trophy and over the foot
arches armorial shields and embattled parapets.
