House, now flats, with attached railings. c1800-20 (shown on
the Post Office Map of 1820) with later additions and
alterations including ranges set back to right and to rear.
Double-depth plan.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys on basement, with 2-storey, 2-window wing
to south. Stucco over brick with concealed roof and iron
railings. Stucco detailing includes first- and second-floor
bands; crowning frieze, cornice and low parapet. Mainly 6/6
sashes (where original), taller to first floor, all in plain
reveals and with sills. Entrance to right of main block:
flight of roll-edged steps to 6-panel door with fanlight. Left
stack and stack to extension. Range to right has 1/1 and 6/6
sash. Rear has 6/6 sashes.
INTERIOR: hall has acanthus frieze and ceiling frieze; dogleg
staircase has stick balusters and wreathed handrail;
ground-floor rooms have interconnecting panelled doors with
cambered-arched, fluted architrave and flowers to angles.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: lancet area railings and to sides of
steps with urns to stanchions. First-floor continuous balcony
has concentric circles.
