Villa and attached area balustrade. 1850-60. Stucco over brick
with hipped slate roof.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys, with attic and basement, 3 first-floor
windows with single-storey wing to left. Mainly 2/2
horizontal-pane sashes; porch has Doric clasping pilasters,
double 4-panel doors with fanlight in tooled surround with
keystone; frieze, cornice and blocking course. To right the
stack breaks forwards.
Garden facade (right return): 2 first-floor window range.
Stucco detailing includes: quoins to angles; moulded
first-floor band; ground floor windows have cornice and
central segmental pediment on consoles; first-floor windows
have tooled surrounds with ears and shoulders on feet which
interrupt continuous sill band; frieze and dentil cornice.
Ground floor has tripartite windows, 1/1 sashes and blind
boxes; first floor has 2/2 sashes. Attic has casements. Tall
end stacks, that to left with cornice.
INTERIOR: retains many original features including
plasterwork, joinery and fireplaces; front room has marble
fireplace with corbel brackets; cornices have egg-and-dart
motif and modillions, embellished ceiling friezes. Staircase
has rod on elongated onion balusters and wreathed handrail;
service stairs have stick balusters.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: blind boxes to ground floor, garden
facade. Area balustrade to left of door has scrolled lozenge
motif.
