Terrace of 11 houses. 1859-60. By Gauntlett. Stuccoed. Welsh
slate roof with brick stack at centre between Nos 1/2, 3/4,
5/6, 7/8, 9/10 and to right of No.11.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys, basement and attic, each 1 bay, Nos 1 and
11 each have wide bay. End houses Nos 1 and 11 project with
facing gables, flanking pilasters to outer bays. No.11 has on
left recessed 2-panelled door with margin glazed overlight, on
right 2-storey tripartite canted bay to ground and first
floors; each has on front 4-pane sash with narrow flanking
sashes, lights divided by stucco pilasters. No.1 has similar
bay with C20 casements, both have cornice and balustrade.
Moulded string course between storeys on line with top of bay
balustrade. Nos 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, each have on right recessed 6
panelled door and overlight, No.10 has margin glazed
overlight, each is approached by 6 stone steps. On left Nos 2,
6, 8, 10 each has sash set in stuccoed projecting canted
surround, No.4 has tripartite sash. On first floor each has
sash 4-pane to Nos 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12-pane to No.2. Nos 3, 7
and 9 each have on left recessed panelled door with overlight,
approached by 6 stone steps. On right sash set in stuccoed
projecting canted surround, No.5 has on left tripartite sash
in similar surround. On first and second floors, each has sash
dormer window. Projecting bracketed eaves with band course.
Nos 2-10 have wood trellis verandah across ground floor tented
with glazed roof. On left return, 2 panelled door on left with
fanlight set within architrave and arch with imposts set in
plain surround.
