Stables and storehouse. 1800-1820, with minor C19-C20 alterations.
Probably by William Fowler of Winterton. Local red brick faced in coursed
limestone rubble with brick dressings; some rendering. Pantile roof.
Rectangular in plan with central carriage entrance flanked by stables. West
front: 3 storeys, 5 bays; symmetrical. Quoins. Pair of plank doors with
strap hinges in brick surround with rendered segmental arch, flanked by
small-paned windows with iron glazing bars set in blocked doorways with
rendered segmental-headed surrounds. First and second floors have hatches
with segmental brick arches and plank doors, the central one on second floor
having pigeon holes at base. Cogged brick eaves cornice. Hipped roof.
Interior complete, with stables to ground floor, beamed ceilings, chamfered
oak columns. King-post roof with raking struts and pegged butt-purlins
contains large wooden wheels for rope hoist.
