House. C16-C17 with C17-C18 casing and C19-C20 extensions. Renovations of 1978 included re-building front wall, re-tiling, replacing doors, windows and some timber frame. Timber framing encased in brick; brick stacks. Plinth and padstones of re-used medieval ashlar from Thornton Abbey. Pantile roof.

Plan: three bays of timber frame, two rooms, with large stack and lobby entry to second bay to right of centre, staircase behind stack; later dairy outshut to rear and front extension to kitchen on right. Gable-end to street. Single storey with attic, three windows. Plinth with partially-exposed padstones above, including a prominent moulded ashlar block to right of entrance. Board door with two twenty-pane replacement sashes to left and small casement to right. Two raking dormers to left with sliding sashes and lead cheeks. Brick coped and tumbled gables. Axial stack and external end stack to left.

Interior: most of original pegged oak frame survives, apart from end trusses replaced by brick gables. Two trusses with arch braces from wall posts to tie beams, one pair of intermediate posts to bays one and three, two pairs to central bay; mid-rail visible to rear behind stack. First floor and stack may be later insertions. Floor has pine joists supported on oak spine beams and ledges on brackets nailed to inner faces of wall posts. Clasped purlin roof with oak collars and pine rafters. Fine chimney of orange brick with oak bressumers to fireplaces. Section of colourwashed mud-and-stud infill, originally an external wall, survives within outshut.

A rare survival of a timber-framed Lincolnshire yeoman's farmhouse.
