GV II

Sham Ruin. c.1800. For G.W.Thelluson. Built with Wall Hall (q.v.).
Brick, cement rendered. Picturesque Gothic. Principal wall facing house
with 2 return walls. To front: ground floor pointed arch with a square
hood mould and flanking blind lancets. Above a large ruinous traceried
window the mouldings for which were taken from the Church of St. John
the Baptist (q.v.). 2 stage angle buttresses. Rendering incised to
resemble ashlar. Right return has a 4-centred arched opening with a
moulded surround. See Folly (q.v.). (Pevsner 1977).
