House, formerly lodge to Hartsbourne Manor. Probably C17 or earlier
origins. C18 casing. Late C19 alterations and additions. Probably timber
framed. Whitewashed brick walls with sham timber framing. Tiled roof.
Originally 2 bays with 1 bay added to left. 1-storey and attic. Central
entrance, panelled door in a 2-storey late C19 gabled porch. Open timber
ground floor with 4-centred heads to each side. 2-light casement with
leaded panes in rendered first floor with sham timber framing. Wavy
bargeboards to gable. Flanking ground floor canted bays with fishscale
tiled roofs. Leaded light casements. 2-light casements in attic, 4
centred heads to each light, bargeboarded gablets. Dentilled brick
eaves. Cross axial stack at right end, large base and 3 diagonally set
shafts. Left hand bay is set back slightly with a separate ridge.
External left end stack with a cruciform shaft. Extended to rear.
Interior not inspected. Date plate 1517 clearly secondary.(Pevsner 1977).
