Stables, walled garden and alcove. C18 or early C19, stables renovated
c.1908 when house rebuilt by Ernest George and Alfred Yeates. Red brick
in Flemish-bond, some stone copings, stone slab roofs, painted wooden
clock turret. An irregular group of single-storey buildings to W of
service block with steep stone slab roofs and red brick chimneys
panelled with round headed recesses. Round-headed recessed windows to S
part with shaped gable parapet on S and off-centre tall octagonal
arcaded wooden turret with cubical clock stage and open octagonal
arcaded cupola with bell and iron vane on top, all painted black and
white. Large rectangular garden with 3M high walls rising to 4M at W end
of N side. Central gate piers at W end. W wall extends to S and
incorporates a semi-circular brick alcove with brick vaulted 4-centred
hemi-cycle head and space for a seat. This section of wall forms the W
end of a terrace walk and has stucco pilasters at each end rising higher
than the stone coping. Small gateways with cast iron gates near its SE
corner and in 2-bays open ironwork screen extending to S at this corner
has square openwork cast iron pylons on stone bases linked to stone side
parapets of a flight of steps.
