House. Late C16 or early C17, converted to domestic use in the
early C19. Single storey, 2-bay timberframed building probably
non-domestic in origin. Roughcast whitewashed walls with black
weatherboarded apron. Steep red pantiled gabled roof. External
red brick chimney on W side wall. S gable end to street with
central doorway under gabled hood flanked by 2 small cast iron
casement windows with small panes and dripboardson shaped
brackets. 2 smaller high windows in the gable. Cusped
bargeboard with moulded square finial, E side has 2 2-light
early C19 wooden windows with rectangular leaded glazing and iron
plate casements. Interior has exposed heavy curved tie beams,
with mortices for braces to central truss, and straight wind
braces to the side purlin roof. An interesting small
timberframed structure surviving from c1600 given its present
picturesque appearance at the beginning of the C19. Part of
varied architectural group in the middle of the village
