House. C17 or earlier. Timber frame on deep plastered brick plinth,
roughcast with a steep hipped roof now slated. A large, 2 storeys and
attics, L-shaped house facing W with a long rear wing extending E along
a side-road at the N end. Front range raised above road with red brick
retaining wall, iron railings, and large stone balls on piers at ends.
Front range of a 3-cells, internal chimney plan with chimney a third
from S end and entrance a third from N. Gabled stair wing in rear angle.
3 windows front of flush box sashes with 3/3 panes to 1st floor and 2
C19 bay windows on Gd floor flanking 6-panel raised and fielded door
under a flat hood on brackets. 3 gabled dormers set high in roof with
casement lights. 2-storeys part of rear wing plastered with 2 flush box
sash windows with 8/8 panes on 1st floor but 2 3-light flush casement
windows to Gd floor. Recessed sash windows in painted brick E exterior
of wing. Formerly called Buckland Hill.
