Farmhouse; C16, C17, C18; timber-framing, on stone plinth,
rendered infill, tiled roof; brick rear wing, English bond.
Cross passage hall wing, cross wing, with long back wing at other
end: 2 storey. Cross wing on left, high stone plinth, jettied
first floor and gable, tension braces to each floor; each floor 2
panels high between braces. 3-light C20 window ground floor, 2-
light first floor: mortices in underside of gable jetty for
original canted oriel. Brick chimney on left corner of gable.
Hall range, sill lower, 3-panel high timber-framing: 2-light C20
window to hall, 3-centred head to cross-passage door: original
moulded sill to first floor window. At right a lean-to brick
extension to front. Ridge chimney to left of cross passage.
Internally large fireplace to hall; heavy chamfers to ceiling
beams in hall and cross wing, small chamfers to exposed joists.
Truss to right of cross passage built for lower roof and heightened
when rest of hall range rebuilt. Remains of stone spiral stair
found between chimney and front wall, covered by later straight
flight. Rear wing 6 bays, principal rafter tenoned into brace
from wallplate to floor beam. Wing originally contained the cider
mill.
