With the appearance of one house but always a pair. Connected with No 8
by a low brick wall. Early C19. 3 storeys; gault brick; slate roof; symmetrically
designed front; stone band at 1st floor window cill level and between 1st
and 2nd floors, 3 windows, flat brick arches, glazing bars; central round-headed
doorway. Originally as Nos 18 and 20 (qv) but heightened. Part of Charles
Humfrey's Doll's Close development 1815-26. (RCHM 266).
Nos 4 to 20 (even) form a group with No 1 Fair Street and No 1 Short Street.
