Country house. Circa 1830 remodelling of late C18 house.
Extended and refurbished in 1920s by Sir Frederick William Lewis,
later Lord Essendon. Further extensions c1960 as conversion to
present use. Painted stucco, slate roof. 2 storeys and attics.
5-window block on right has projecting square pavilions enclosing
tetrastyle Greek Ionic loggia, the end bays with shallow
segmental-headed recesses. Sash windows. 9-window extension on
left. Garden elevation has 3-window end projections and a
central full-height canted bay window with 1st floor cast iron
balcony. Interior is mostly in a 1920s Georgian revival style.
Large-scale detailing including staircase entrance hall. Ground
floor left hand room has late cl8 panelling. Some c1830
doorcases on landing. Large c1960 extension on N side.
