Aisled barn. C15, altered C17. Timber frame on rendered red brick base.
Weatherboarded. Half hipped tiled roof. 7 bays, that to W somewhat
shorter. To S a central gabled midstrey projects with gables to centre
of each of flanking 3 bays. Casements inserted. Interior: jowled arcade
and wall posts, arched braces to cambered tie beams, slightly curved
passing braces lap jointed to aisle ties and arcade posts link wall
posts and tie beams. Braces from arcade posts to wall posts. Butt
purlins. Splayed and tabled scarf jointing. C17 roof truss, queen struts
to collars some clasping purlins. (S. Castle, Hertfordshire Archaeology,
