Farmhouse. C15/16; rebuilt 1772. C15/16 house partly built of squared and
coursed sandstone; 1772 house built of Flemish garden wall bond brick; gabled
C20 plain tile roof; brick ridge stack with 2 diagonally-set flues; brick end
stacks. 2-unit plan with cross wing to left. 2 storeys; 4-window range. Gabled
front of projecting cross wing to left has segmental brick arches over tall C19
wooden cross windows, and storey bands; range to right has segmental brick
header arch over C19 3-light casement, C19 brick soldier arch over C20 3-light
casement and C19 first-floor 3-light casement breaking through dentilled brick
cornice. Rear entrance has segmental header arch over C18 plank door.
Interior: stop-chamfered and cased beams; C18 plank doors; service stair to rear
of stack rises to separate first-floor mens' room in bay to right. Central
ground-floor room has chamfered lintel over open fireplace. Cross wing to left
has mid C18 dog-leg with landing staircase with turned balusters set on closed
string; late C16 panelled door to C15/16 cellar built of squared sandstone
blocks with mullioned 2-light window. History: stands next to site of Horsley
hamlet, depopulated in C14/C15.
