1757. Brown brick, painted stone dressings, mansard old tile
roof. Basement, 2 storeys and attics. Slight central pedimented
projection. 1:3:1 sash windows in moulded frames with guaged
brick lintels. Basement casements, continuous 1st floor sill,
moulded cornice, parapet with balustrades in front of box
dormers. Circular lunette in pediment surmounted by cartouche
carrying date plaque. Steps and bridge up to 4-fielded, 2-flush
panelled door in reveal with rectangular fanlight. Surround of
Roman Ionic three-quarter columns, pulvinated frieze, modillioned
cornice and pediment. Rear elevation has 6/6-pane sash windows,
most with original glazing bars. Most interior detail remains:
modillioned and pilastered entrance corridor opening to dog-leg
staircase, which has pairs of moulded balusters to each steo and
scrolls on sides of risors;N and S front rooms with rococo-
carved wooden fireplace surrounds and overmantels. Bridge to
front door has wrought iron, chinoiserie pattern side railings.
Scrolled front gate with side panels and overthrow, three steps
with curved hand rail and attached footscrapes. 1982 front
spiked side railings.
