C16 and 1637. Front elevation is mid C19 plastered, and has
later imitation half-timbering and pargetting. 2 storeys and
attic gable. 4 windows. Tudor hood moulds to casements,
ornamental bargeboard to gable. Door pediment on scrolls. Large
chimney-stack on N with three conjoined shafts. Interior with
large, mid-C17 staircase. Fluted balusters, rusticated newel
posts and scrolled finials. Reused C17 panelling and reeded
pilasters in N 1st Floor room. 1637 red brick rear wing, 3
storeys, 6 bays. Plain Doric pilasters on N and cemented 2nd
storey with triangular and segmental pediments. Diagonal
chimney-stacks on S side. (W H Godfrey 'The English Staircase'
