House. 1808 ('IB 1808' on brick to right of door), E kitchen wing
heightened and extended 1964. Red brick with grey headers and tiled
roof. A formal country Georgian house of 3 storeys and cellar apparently
of 3 windows on each floor on the symmetrical N entrance front but with
painted fake windows to the 1st and 2nd floor flanking the stair windows
over the central door. Only one room deep, the room each side of the
stair hall on each floor is lit from the S. Lower L-shaped service wing
attached to E end and projecting forward to N. Chimneys at each end of
main house. N front has dentilled eaves, recessed sash windows to ground
floor with 8/8 panes and flat gauged arches, but wider 3-light casement
windows under similar flat arches to 1st and 2nd floors. 6-panel door
with segmental fanlight under gauged arch. 3 windows, 3 storeys S
elevation to garden has dentilled eaves and flat gauged arches with
central door. Recessed sash windows to ground floor with 6/6 panes on
left and 8/8 on right. Casement windows above, with 2-light casements to
2nd floor. Glazed door with small panes and painted fake segmental
fanlight under gauged arch. Unusually conservative plan with cellar
under parlour on W, stair rising from S to N with entrance under it.
Original stair with stick balusters but carved tread ends, ground floor
newel one step up and top newel 2 steps down from landing. (RCHM
