House and flat. Probably late C18 with early C19 extensions and late C19
alterations. Roughcast stone with hipped slate roofs. 2 storeys, 6 bays, the
1st 2 bays recessed and lower, the 4th bay breaks forward under hipped gable.
1st floor sill band and modillioned eaves. Windows are sashed with glazing
bars; those to 4th to 6th bays have margin lights; 4th bay has French windows
with glazing bars; 6th bay has late C19 canted oriel with small-paned casements
across angle. 4 cross-axial stacks. Verandah to west end of 8 bays has 3
fluted Tuscan columns, others turned posts; glazed roof. Rear has large
projecting wing with return entrance. To left a square entrance tower set at
angle, with swept pyramidal slate roof and weather vane; Tuscan porch and
6-fielded-panel door and overlight with glazing bars. To left, a projecting
late C19 ingle fireplace with pedimented panel and 2 round-headed lights;
2 octagonal stacks. To right of wing an entrance with Tuscan antae and frieze
and cornice. Lean-to outbuildings to rear of verandah, and steps to 1st floor
entrance to flat. East end has polygonal bay window with small-paned casements,
entablature and balustrade.
