6/2 Barn and cow house
about 20 metres north
of Longfield Manor

GV II


Barn and cow house. Probably 1799, with some mid-C20 alterations. Brick with
concrete tile roof. L-plan , barn extending to south-west, cow house with
granary to south-east. Barn: four roof bays, one bay to left has a stable
door, other three bays are barn with central threshing floor, other front has
a gabled porch to floor, hit-and-miss ventilators; cow house has one storey
with loft over, dog-tooth brick cornice; ground floor: six openings with shallow
segmental heads and boarded doors, to right-hand end a two-storey building
with granary on first floor, dovecote in gable, and external steps to right-hand
wall. The date 1799 is cut in a brick to right of blocked entrance to ground
floor of granary. Longfield Manor is not included in this list,
