6/65 The Old Vicarage

Vicarage, now house. Mid-C18; refronted mid-C19 with further late C20
alterations. Brick, partly stuccoed; slate roofs with right end stacks,
and large left end external C18 brick chimney. Three storeys with moulded
eaves cornice. Three bays with end quoins; windows on first floor have
moulded architraves; 12-pane sashes in outer bays, central narrow 8-pane
sash; square 6-pane sashes in outer bays of second floor and central 4-
pane sash; from ground floor projects a flat-roofed C19 addition with
moulded cornice and parapet; in left bay is a tripartite sash window with
central 12-pane sash; 12-pane sash in right bay; both windows have pilastered
surrounds; central distyle Doric portico of slender proportions; doorway has
a pilastered surround and an 8-panelled door, the four upper panels of which
are glazed. Interior: at rear of central hall is a small oval geometrical
staircase. C20 alterations at rear.
