Farmhouse, now store and chickenhouse. C16 and C17 with earlier elements
and later alterations. Brick and timber-frame partly weatherboarded with
brick and woven infill. Sandstone rubble stack with squared sandstone
diagonal shafts. Pantile roofs. T-plan with main range aligned roughly
east/west and cross-wing at west end. One and two storeys. North elevation
has main range with square framing, two panels high from cill to wall-plate.
Entry immediately to left of gable front which is weatherboarded and has
small central opening to ground floor. Brick ridge stack in middle of main
range. South elevation has exposed brick-nogged framing to right side of
main range. Brick part to left has small opening to first floor and a
segmentally-headed opening to ground floor. To right of the last is a
segmentally-headed doorway. Gable front to left is weatherboarded.
Interior has fragments of C17 plastered ceiling in ground floor room of cross-
wing with bird designs and moulded margins. Cross-wing also has straight-cut
chamfer stops to visible beams. East end of main rnage has run-out chamfer
stops to ceiling beams. First floor of same range has fireplace with chamfered
stone jambs and chamfered oak lintol. Nearby are two pairs of cruck blades
and two segmentally-headed doorways. BoE claims C17 plastered ceiling is
non-existent. (BoE, p 235; RCHM, Vol I, p 48).
