The Can and Anchor
II
Former public house, now house. Probably C17 or early C18 with C19 and
C20 alterations. Part timber-framed, part rendered sandstone rubble, hipped
C20 tiled roof. Rectangular plan aligned north/south facing west. Main
axial stack to south of probable through-passage, further later north gable-
end stack. Single storey and attic. West front: dormer with 2-light casement
window to left of stack, one C20 window to left and two irregularly placed
2-light casements to right of porch with inner ledged door. Timber-framing
exposed immediately to left of doorway formerly three square panels from sill
to wall-plate, some surface timbering further to left. Interior not inspected
but likely to be of interest.
