Farmhouse. Substantially C17 and C19, probably with earlier origins.
Timber-frame almost completely clad in brick or sandstone rubble; slate
roofs, mostly hipped. Three major stacks to left and two to right hand
projecting kitchen wing. U-plan with projecting wings to south. Two
storeys, 1:2:1 windows, gable front has tripartite glazing bar sash to
ground floor and sash to first floor, centre part 3-light C19 casements
under segmental heads with central glazed early C20 porch and 4-panelled
early C19 door, right part has open lean-to covering entry on left side
of projection. Small area of exposed timber-framing to rear of main
range. Interior: right part of main range has heavy longitudinal stop-
chamfered beams to ground floor ceiling extending for three bays, and
collar-trusses with two supporting posts from tie-beams. (RCHM Vol II, p 134).
