House. C18 with probably C19 rear wing. Colourwashed rendered cob and stone;
thatched roof, gabled at ends; brick end stack.
Single depth plan with 2 rooms heated from end stacks, the left hand room slightly
larger. The present entrance is through the right gable end, the position of the
original entrance, if different, is not clear. An unheated rear service wing is
probably a C19 addition.
2 storeys. Asymmetrical 2 window front, the eaves thatch eyebrowed over the first
floor windows; first floor window left 2-light casement, 6 panes per light, first
floor window right and 3 ground floor windows are 2-light C20 casements, possibly in
original embrasures. The entrance is in the right end with a Cl9 plank door with
strap hinges. The front wall is extended to the left forming an open fronted store
with a slate roof.
Interior: Both ground floor rooms have chamfered cross beams, the left hand room
has an open fireplace with 1 ashlar and 1 stone rubble jamb with a cambered lintel.
Traces of the original straight stone stair, which was against the rear wall,
survive; the stair has been replaced by a C20 timber stair. No access to roofspace
at time of survey (1986) but the straight principal rafters suggest an C18
structure. Some old wall and ceiling plaster survives on the first floor.
