Farmhouse. C17 or earlier with C19 and C20 alterations. Whitewashed rendered cob
and stone rubble ; end stacks to main block, rear lateral stack to wing ; slate roof,
gabled at ends of main block, hipped at end of wing.
Plan: L plan. 2 single depth ranges, the west-facing range probably earlier.
Details of plan unclear at time of survey (1987) as interior not inspected.
Exterior: 2 storeys. Asymmetrical 4 window west-facing range with a front door to
the left with a flat porch canopy on moulded brackets. 2 ground floor C19 3-light
casements with glazing bars ; 3 similar first floor windows and a small 1-light
window to first floor left. The wing has a 4 window south front with a C20 door to
the right with a flat porch canopy on moulded brackets. 2 first floor and 1 ground
floor C19 3-light casements, matching those on the main range, the other windows 2-
and 3-light C20 timber casements with glazing bars. The rear elevation of the main
block has a door with a flat porch canopy and 2- and 3-light casements with glazing
bars. The left return of the main block has a projecting bread oven, a "small bow
window with 3 ogee-headed lights" mentioned in the old description no longer exists.
C19 iron railings to the garden in front of the house are included in the listing.
Interior: Not inspected but may be of interest and early roof timber may survive.
An attractive pre 1700 traditional farmhouse on a roadside site.
