Includes Sarah Sermons Almshouses, North Street. Row of six almshouses. Built
1849, under endowment from Sarah Sermon. Red brick with diaper patterns and
stone quoins and dressings; gabled plain tile roof, with tiles diagonally-set in
decorative pattern; brick ridge stacks with stone quoining. Early Tudor style.
One storey; 6-window range. Gabled porches each have moulded kneelers to stone
coping and blank heraldic shield above moulded Tudor-arched doorway. Three-
light cinquefoil-headed windows, some retaining diamond-paned leaded lights;
moulded kneelers to stone-coped gables. Gabled ends have one-light trefoil-
headed windows, set over label mould framing plaque to left. Interior not
inspected.
