Derelict wind pump. Late C19. Brick with an aluminium
protective cap. Battered tarred tower, most of tar now
weathered off. Circular. 4 storeys. 2 opposing ground-floor
doors under arched heads. 2 arched windows to first floor
facing north and south, 2 similar windows under cap facing
east and west, all with cast-iron glazing bars and all blocked
with aluminium sheeting. External scoop wheel to south side
with remains of timber paddles.
INTERIOR: cap frame with sheers, head stock and weatherbeam.
Truck and centering wheels, curb, track and rack. Cast-iron
windshaft and brakewheel with brake arm. Cast-iron upright
drive shaft, crown wheel, pit wheel and horizontal drive shaft
to the external scoop wheel. Drive shaft stamped `T.
Smithdale, Norwich'.
