House. 1935; by Ronald Vallis of Frome. White painted rendered brick. Flat roofs with oversailing eaves.
PLAN: Entrance on south east side into axial passage/stairhall behind drawing and dining rooms on south west garden front and with kitchen, scullery and integral garage at rear north east.
Moderne style.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys. Almost symmetrical south west garden front with two large French windows on ground floor and bay on right with corner window, above and across the whole front a balcony with a solid balustrade wrapped around the corners at either end and with a fluted band at the top; symmetrical first floor fenestration, the window at centre flanked by two glazed doors and large corner windows at either end. All the windows have metal Crittal frames. On the left corner an open-fronted sun room, quadrant on plan, added in about 1950. The right hand [south east] return has central doorway with flat cantilevered canopy with three shafts in wall above and glazed doors with wrought-iron grilles, small ground floor windows and first floor corner window on right. Rear north east, stair window at centre and projecting wing to left and right, single-storey service wing on right and integral garage on left with plank double doors.
INTERIOR remarkably unaltered. Veneered and tiled chimneypieces, original gas fires in bedrooms, Bakelite light switches and servants' bells, fitted kitchen cupboards and sink, large scullery sinks and staircase with solid balusterade with a bronze handrail. Landing stair window has yellow and orange cast glass. Surviving original interior joinery including doors, curtain pelmits and cupboards, including china pantry and tank room fittings. Bathroom, lavatory and cloakroom are tiled.
An unusually little altered 1935 Moderne style house.
