5/7 Church of St Peter
II

Parish church. 1887, by Sir Thomas Jackson, Tower 1894. Walls of knapped flint
with Bath stone dressings; plinth, stepped buttresses. Tile roof. Of Perpendicular
style, aisleless nave and chancel, north chapel, south porch, west tower. On the
south side, the pattern of coupled windows is relieved by two 3-light windows, and
the east window has five lights, all with varied tracery. The south porch has a
timber-framed upper part, with a cusped bargeboard. The Tower is plain with bands,
an octagonal (south-east) stair turret rising above the crenellated parapet, and at
the bell stage deep coupled traceried openings within rectangular frames. The
interior is Victorian, with octagonal panelled pulpit, brass eagle lectern, and an
octagonal font within the tower.
