12/47 Mill House
II
House, formerly mill house and mill (part-demolished). Early C19. Walls of
flint with brick dressings, stuccoed on the front to resemble stonework; plinth,
rusticated quoins, eaves fascia, architraves, cills on brackets. Hipped slate
roof. Symmetrical south front of two storeys three windows. Sashes in reveals.
Plain classical doorway, with beam of pediment form resting on deep pilasters
with panelled reveals, decorative fanlight, and four-panelled (two top glazed)
door. Part of the rear, and an eastward set back extension, links to the
remains of the (water) mill, which has flint walls (part of the mill surviving
as a garden wall) and brick walls (a north end late C19 extension), and a tile
roof.
