Large house. C17, late C18 and early C19, late C19 and early C20. Brick and
stucco walls, with tile and slate roofing. The oldest unit forms the centre of
the north elevation (of 2 storeys and 3 widely-spaced windows); behind is a
large C18 extension, on the west side early C19 additions of 2 storeys, on the
east side is C19 service block (extended in the early C20). The north elevation
has a tiled roof, parapet, walls of mainly header bond with cambered openings,
old leaded casements, and a large ½ glazed early C19 (Chinese Chippendale) porch;
the west side is a taller 2 storeys, 3 windows, hipped slate roof, high parapet
brick walls in header bond with rubbed flat arches, sashes in reveals; the east
side is 2 storeys, the projecting part being flat-roofed and separated from the
main block, brick walls, sash windows. The main (South) elevation is of 2 storeys
and attic with a 3 storeyed ½-hexagon centrepiece, 2.3.2, with the early C19 west
side extension of 2 storeys. 2 windows. The roof to the main part is a tiled
mansard with a flat roofed dormer at each side, the extension having a low pitched
hipped slate roof. The walls are stuccoed, with a parapet and plinth. Sashes in
reveals, Pith folding interior shutters, and central French window. Inside, the
late Georgian part has a staircase, set in a wide corridor, lit by a round-headed
window in the west wall. The rooms have plaster cornices, moulded dados, some
fireplaces, The entrance hall (in the oldest part and with a low ceiling)is
paved in diagonal slabs.
