The Malthouse
Farmhouse, oast and former malthouse. Early C17 fronted and extended in early C19;
Mid and late C19 extentions, early C20 additions, late C20 alterations.
Brick partly rendered and painted white encapsulating C17 timber frame with brick
infill, internally. Tiled roof . A brick stack rendered at gable end of main
range and a brick gable stack to added service range added to right gable wall.
2 storeys with later C19 range of single storey and attic added further to right.
Front of main range; 3 identical tripartite timber frame central sashes
(3 x 3 panes) with narrow side lights. The panes in the upper sashes have gothic
heads to the glazing bars. Painted brick porch with hipped tiled roof and gothic
side lights. Attached C17 range has C19 casements and plank door. Attached is
former malthouse. 1 storey and attics, brick. Rear elavation has catslide
roof and 4 C19 gables.
Interior has exposed framing including spine beam with lambs tongue stop.
