SU 34 NW SHIPTON BELLINGER HIGH STREET

Parish church. Of medieval origin, with a massive restoration of 1879 by
R.J. Withers. Flint and tile. Aisleless nave with a south porch, and chancel
with a north vestry. Plain roof, with a bell-turret at the west end, having a
pyramid tile roof and shingled sides. Stone dressings to the walls of flint and
stone rubble, with stepped buttresses, plinth. A lancet and priests door (blocked)
on the south side of the chancel are part of the old structure. Windows coupled,
and a triple west window. Victorian interior, with a 3-bay stone chancel screen
of 3 cusped arches: elaborate font.
