Old School House
II
C17 (Charity of 1656), early C19; 2 storeys, 4 upper and 2 lower windows. Tile roof, hipped at the south end; central shafted stack. Cement walls, with stone drip-moulds at the first floor level and stone moulding to the high plinth, chamfered reveals to the window openings. Casements. Solid gabled porch (early C19) with an arched opening now with a fanlight above a flush panelled door. The later rear extension marks a mullioned window and there is exposure of the brick structure; a narrow south side unit breaks the earlier symmetry but the interior wall is a timber frame (a survivor?). Behind the central entrance a winding staircase abuts the side of the massive chimney breast.
