The Old Barn

C17, early C19, and modern. Rectangular block of 6 bays, with solid walling, with
former entrances at the second and fifth bay on the south side. The roadside (south)
elevation has old 'Basing' bricks in English bond, 2 tiers of ventilating slots (now
filled) above a high plinth, buttresses on either side of the former entrances (now
slate-hung). Slate roofing. The block was converted to 4 flats in 1971, with the
north and end walls cement rendered, each bay having concrete plain architraves to
windows, containing triple sashes. Modern entrances at the rear.
