C15, C18, C19. A timber-framed building of late medieval origin, but refronted in the
middle period; 2 storeys, 6 upper windows (2 blank above the doorways). Tiled roof,
hipped at the north side, catslide at the rear, moulded brick eaves. Walling of the
header brickwork with red flush dressings; quoins, panels containing the openings,
first-floor band, cambered rubbed arches to the ground-floor, plinth. Sashes in
exposed frames (one old). No 21 has a 6-panelled door in a solid-frame (without the
former canopy); No 23 has a canopy and a panelled door in a solid frame. One plate
glass shop window. The rear wing at the south side has a first-floor Gothic (sash)
window. The north elevation shows that the front wall was raised above the earlier
eaves height.
