House. Dated 1681. Coursed and dressed limestone with ashlar dressings; gabled
stone slate roof; ashlar end stacks, with diagonally - set flues. 3-unit central-
staircase plan with service wings to rear. 2 storeys and attic with full-height
gabled dormers to outer bays; symetrical 3-window range. Stone lintels over early
19th century six-panelled (2 dazed) door and 6/6 pane sashes; label moulds over
2-light chamfered stone-mullioned window above door and similar hollow chamfered
dormer windows; 2-light chamfered stone-mullioned window. Interior: jewel-stopped
beams and chamfered joists; late 17th century fireplace with moulded stone architrave
in ground-floor room to right. Early 19th century panelled doors and shutters
and early 19th century dog-leg staircase with stick balusters and fret-cut brackets.
Panel over doorway to rear of hall has date 1681 and initials EG in decorative
carved surround; initials stand for Edward Gardner, for whom the house was built.
