7/241 Tiled House Farmhouse
II
Farmhouse. Mostly late C17, possibly on older core. Small
square panel timber-framing with rendered infill on tall chamfered
dressed stone plinth, with ashlar faced and coped gable ends to
north and east, steep tile roof formerly thatched, short ashlar
ridge and end stacks to north west range, and large external ashlar
stack to east gable end, stepped on north side with moulded
cornices. L-plan with C20 lean-to in rear angle, 2 storeys and
attic, long ranges to south and north west. South front has
nearly central door of 6 fielded panels with porch probably of C20,
small casements to left on first floor, scattered larger casements
on ground floor. Right hand return of south range has two 3-light
stone mullions with square hoodmould, one to each floor, and small
arched attic light. West front has scattered C20 fenestration,
pointed chamfered timber archway towards north end and first floor
small square wooden oriel bay on 3 decorative scroll brackets, with
1/4/1-lights and mid-transom, to right of doorway. Nearly level
with back of south range on west side, plinth steps forward for
approximately one metre. Interior has many beams and large stone
fireplace to ridge stack, but only partially inspected.
