1/57 Laundry Cottage
II
Detached cottage. C17-early C18 and C19. Coursed roughly dressed
limestone, pebble-dashed above ground floor level at front. Stone
slate roof. C20 artificial stone stack and ashlar stack
repaired in brick. Rectangular main body with C19 extension
(formerly the laundry) at right gable end, extending back rear
right, single bay C19 extension at left gable end. Main body; 2
storeys. Symmetrical 2 storey, 2-windowed facade lit by 2 and 3-
light stone-mullioned casements, continuous hood over ground floor
windows and door. Central, gabled mid-late C18 porch with flat
coping and ball finial. Four-panel door within porch within
moulded architrave and keystone. Single-storey kitchen extension
left with part-glazed C20 door, bull's-eye window left of door.
Former laundry lean-to at right gable end with double, part-glazed
doors.
Interior of main body; spine beam. Small late C18-early C19
fireplace with stone surround and keystone.
