Detached farmhouse. Late C14; early-mid C17; early-mid C19
alterations and additions. Random rubble limestone; rubble
chimneys; stone slate roof. Two-storey with attic; L-plan with
additions. North end: parapet gabled end of west range to right
with single-window recessed chamfered mullioned fenestration having
hoodmoulds, 4-light to ground floor, 3-light to upper floor; 2-
light to attic having early lead latticing. C19 addtion to left
with stone flat arches to leaded casements. West front: central
early C19 segmental arched doorway with open pedimented hood on
shaped brackets; inserted casement to left. Indications of some
possibly blocked openings or alterations on upper floor. Central
ridge-mounted chimney. South side: end of west range to left with
altered 3-light ground floor casement; C17 fenestration above as
to north end. Wing to right is difficult to date as most features
appear re-set. Former 3-light casement altered to doorway;
cinquefoil headed window above. East side: 2 wings form small
yard next to river. Short water channel for fish cooling.
Interior: many alterations in early C19. Fine C14 roof truss in
main range has arched bracing to cambered collar; remainder of
roof rebuilt in C19. Barn stands to west (q.v.) and stables to
north west (q.v.).
