Public house, at one time 2 dwellings. Late C16 or early C17, extended
C18, part cased and altered C19. Timber frame. Brick plinth and left
gable end, all rendered and whitewashed. Steeply pitched slate roof.
Originally 2 cells, possibly an open hall, extended by 2 bays to right.
1 storey and attic. Half glazed door with small bracketed hood to
centre of original building with flanking 3 light small pane horizontal
sliding sashes in flush moulded frames. To right a second entrance and
a small flush frame tripartite sash. Above original entrance a 2 light
gabled dormer just over eaves. To right and set higher is a similar
dormer. Left gable end 2 light attic casement with a cambered head.
External stock brick stack. Right end internal red brick stack. 2
gabled dormers to rear. Interior: exposed framing with jowled posts
to cambered tie beams, curved windbraces. Attached to left and set
back is a 1 storey outbuilding, now a shop. Large front window and door.
Hipped tiled roof. To right is a knapped flint bay with pantiles. Red
brick, stock brick and weatherboarding to inner elevation.
