Farmhouse. Probably late C17 or C18, altered early and late C19,
mid C20. Roughcast to main part, at least partly on stone, plain
render lined as ashlar on brick, English and English garden wall
bond brickwork, part painted; tiled roofs. Irregular plan: 3-
window garden front, 2 rooms deep, 2 and 2½ storeys; single-bay, 2
storey extension 3 rooms deep one end, 3-window, 2 storey parallel
range across courtyard towards road, roofed walk forming link.
Courtyard, south side: to left 2 gables, roughcast, first gable
with plain string to first floor level; second narrower, 4-pane
window ground floor, 2-light casement, cambered head above, ridge
chimney on gable: large chimney set back in valley between,
further chimney beyond on cross roof. Low, roughcast wall across
front of yard, steps up to opening. Right return facing courtyard:
single bay on left, roughcast, 2-light casement each floor, upper
cambered head. Slight offset to right to taller range, roughcast:
boarded door, painted stone quoins, under open walk (see below):
plinth, 16-pane sash. Above 16-pane sash: left gable above lower
wing, 2-light casement, lathes exposed where a little render
fallen, wide verge. On right projecting wing: painted brick gable
facing yard, opening on left, timber lintel; heavy timber on first
floor and across base of low-pitched gable. Open walk with pitched
roof,- 3-bay, timber posts, hip to end, curved iron ties and iron
king post at bay divisions. Forms link to open lean-to on back of
parallel wing on right: painted brickwork: 2-light casement,
external chimney. Gable plain render lined as ashlar, ridge
chimney. Right return faces road: plain brickwork: two 3-light
casements to ground floor, possible blocked opening between: 3-
light mullion and transom above, boarded door, 4-pane window. Site
formerly moated: described as manor house. Forms group with barn
(q.v.); interior not accessible.
