Ice House

Former Coach House, then Brew House, then School Masters House, now
store with possible ice house attached, adjacent to Mickleton Manor
(q.v.). C18 Coach House: ashlar limestone with flat coped gable
and roll saddle. Ashlar stack from gable end to road another
centrally, in wing parallel to house. Possible ice house of same
materials but has moulded eaves cornice and hipped roof towards
road. Coach House 'L' shaped in plan with later outshut attached
to rear to form square. Possible ice house: single roomed. Coach
House: 2 storeys. Irregular fenestration 2, 5 and 7-light stone
mullioned windows, 2-light C20 wood casement also. Painted plank
door under projecting moulded stone lintel, supported on decorative
stone brackets. Access to door via what was formerly a twin flight
of 6 stone steps, only one flight remaining. Left wall with 2
large arches, now blocked, with projecting keystones and imposts.
Ice House attached to coach house by means of wall at right angles
to facade, with 4-centred arched doorway. Ice house: 2 storeys,
one under ground with access to right via headed doorway down 5
stone steps.
Interior ground floor of ice house: low, brick, barrel vault.
